Facebook is THE best online tool you have to grow your network marketing or direct sales business. Even so, many of us are concerned about our various Facebook contacts seeing all of our personal or business – related content.
“Can anyone view these private photos of my children? Do I want my business contacts to see every update about my personal life? How do I keep my friends or co-workers from seeing updates about my products or business opportunity?”
If you have ever wondered how you can protect your privacy on Facebook – while still using this tool effectively to grow your business – Facebook has a feature that will be one of your new best friends!
The Facebook LISTS feature is one of the most helpful tools you can use on Facebook.
The “lists” feature allows you to sort the “friends” connected to your personal profile into various lists. You’ve probably noticed that any contact you create using your profile is automatically classified into the generic category of “friend.”
If you use the list feature, however, you can segment your entire “friends” network into smaller groups, and then control which groups see your content. By using the lists feature, you can ensure that only certain people see (or not see) some of your updates. For example, if you want to share personal photos of your kids with only your closest family members, you can do so using the lists feature.
Likewise, you can use lists so that your family or friends DON’T see your updates about your products or business (but your hottest prospects DO). You have full control over the lists you create and use, but here are a few helpful categories:
Family – set up a list (or a couple lists) with your close or extended family members.
Close Friends – set up a list (or a few lists) that contain your closest friends and contacts.
Warm prospects – set up a list of your “warm prospects” – people who’ve engaged with your content or perhaps have indicated some interest in your products or business. You can use this list to follow up or message these people individually, or send updates to just this group of people.
Hot prospects – set up a list of people who are your ‘hottest prospects’ – people you’ve met in person, met through a Facebook group or with whom you’ve had discussions regarding your products or business. You can use this list to easily find these leads, visit their profiles (to comment or engage with their content, ensuring they will more easily see YOUR content) and message individually or with group updates.
Your Team – you can also create a list for your team members. This is helpful if you want to create posts about team meetings, conference calls or team incentives. It’s also helpful if you want to EXCLUDE your team from seeing other updates (so that more of your prospects or other connections can view those posts).
Your Customers – it’s also smart to create a list for your customers. You can create posts about product specials or new product releases or just to stay in touch and show your appreciation.
After you have organized your friends into different lists, you have a lot of control over who sees your content.
